Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A ridge to the south directs dry southeast winds across the north. The
southeasterly winds will ease during the week as the ridge weakens and a trough
developing near the Pilbara west coast moves east through the Pilbara ahead of
a cold front moving across southern WA.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A firm ridge over southern WA will start to move east as a weak trough develops
near the west coast on Sunday. A patchy cloud band will extend across the
southwest during Sunday and Monday. A significant cold front will move over
southwestern parts of the state on Tuesday, and across remaining southern WA on
Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of Sunday 17 August
Mostly cloudy over southern and central parts. Clear in the north of the state.
Forecast for Monday 18 August
Chance of light showers over southern and eastern parts of the South West Land
Division and southern Goldfields. Chance of morning fog about the far northern
Gascoyne coast. Windy in the morning across the northern Interior, southern
Kimberley, eastern Pilbara and adjacent Gascoyne.
Forecast for Tuesday 19 August
Squally showers southwest of a line Jurien Bay to Ravensthorpe, and about
remaining west coastal parts north to Kalbarri, extending to remaining parts of
the South West Land Division during the afternoon, and reaching the far
southwest Gascoyne coast and southern Goldfields during the evening. Gusty
thunderstorms with moderate to heavy falls possible over western parts of the
South West Land Division. Chance of morning fog about the Gascoyne coast and
west Pilbara coasts. Windy across much of the state south of the northern
Kimberley.
Forecast for Wednesday 20 August
Showers over the South West Land Division, Gascoyne, Goldfields, western
Pilbara and western Eucla. Gusty thunderstorms possible over much of the South
West Land Division, southeast Gascoyne, Goldfields and adjacent western Eucla.
Chance of morning fog about western and coastal parts of the Pilbara, and
northwest Kimberley coast. Windy across much of the state south of northern
Kimberley.
Forecast for Thursday 21 August
Showers over the South West Land Division, Goldfields, Gascoyne, western and
central Pilbara, much of the South Interior, and Eucla, mostly clearing during
the afternoon. Chance of morning fog over inland parts of the South West Land
Division.
