Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A weak trough over inland Pilbara will move into the Kimberley on Tuesday and
dissipate. A ridge over southern WA will direct an east to southeast flow
across the region until a cold front moves through southern WA on Thursday. The
next ridge will bring a dry southeast wind surge across the north from Friday.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A high over southern WA moves into the Bight during Tuesday and strengthens,
maintaining a ridge over southern WA until Wednesday. The next cold front will
approach the west coast on Wednesday and move through southern WA on Thursday.
A firm ridge will develop over southern WA from Friday and will be the dominant
weather pattern over the state through the weekend.
Forecast for the rest of Monday 11 August
Light showers south of a line Rockingham to Bremer Bay. Chance of a shower or
thunderstorm over southeast Pilbara, northeast Gascoyne and adjacent South
Interior.
Forecast for Tuesday 12 August
Light showers possible south of a line Mandurah to Denmark. Morning fog and
frosts over inland parts of the South West Land Division, Eucla and southern
Goldfields. Chance of morning fog over far west Kimberley and far west Pilbara.
Forecast for Wednesday 13 August
Showers developing south of a line Kalbarri to Walpole in the afternoon,
spreading to a line south of Denham to Bremer Bay in the evening. Showers
becoming squally and more frequent over the South West and Lower West districts
during the evening. Morning fog about far west Gascoyne and far west Pilbara.
Windy at times across much of the state south of the Kimberley.
Forecast for Thursday 14 August
Squally showers south of a line Coral Bay to Israelite Bay, spreading to
eastern Goldfields, southwest Pilbara and Eucla during the afternoon, and to
southern Interior in the evening. Showers clearing across the Gascoyne and
western Goldfields, and contracting to the south coast of the South West Land
Division in the late afternoon and evening. Gusty thunderstorms possible over
the southern parts of the South West Land Division with chance of small hail.
Morning fog about western Gascoyne and southwest Pilbara. Windy across the
southern coastal districts, Goldfields and southern Interior.
Forecast for Friday 15 August
Showers over southern Interior, Eucla and about the south coast, clear over
southern Interior and inland Eucla by the afternoon. Morning fog and frosts
over inland parts of the South West Land Division, and southern Goldfields.
Windy across the Interior, southern Kimberley and Pilbara.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:45 am WST Tuesday.
