Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A cloud band over northern WA will contract eastward into the Northern
Territory during Friday as a ridge strengthens into the Pilbara, North Interior
and southern and western parts of the Kimberley. This ridge will bring a return
of fresh and gusty east to southeasterly surges. Another cold front will pass
through southern WA during Sunday and Sunday night with a new ridge extending
into the Pilbara later Sunday into Monday.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A deep low south of the State will move into the Bight during tonight and
Friday, bringing a strong southerly to westerly flow over the southeast of the
State. A high pressure ridge extends across the west coast with the centre of
the high expected to move eastward across southern WA during Saturday. The next
cold front will reach the west coast on Sunday and quickly continue eastward to
reach South Australia by early Monday.
Forecast for the rest of Thursday 24 July
Showers over the east Pilbara and western and southern Kimberley, tending to
areas of rain and isolated thunderstorms in the North Interior and eastern
South Interior. Showers about the south coastal districts and Goldfields along
with the chance of thunderstorms in the eastern Goldfields and South East
Coastal District. Very windy about the Esperance coast. Chance of a
thunderstorm over southern coastal areas. Chance of showers about the west
coast to the south of Shark Bay.
Forecast for Friday 25 July
Showers over the southern and eastern South West Land Division and southern
Goldfields.Very windy with showers across the Eucla and southern South
Interior. Showers gradually contracting eastward out of the southern and
central Kimberley and North Interior. Chance of morning fog over the north
Kimberley, southern Goldfields and inland southern and eastern South West Land
Division. Widespread frost through the inland South West Land Division, inland
Gascoyne and western Goldfields. Unseasonably cool throughout the State except
in the north and east Kimberley.
Forecast for Saturday 26 July
Possible showers, mainly later in the day, in the Lower West. Showers in the
South West and about the south coast. Widespread morning frosts through inland
parts of the South West Land Division and Gascoyne, as well as the Goldfields,
South Interior and southeast Pilbara. Chance of morning fog over the southwest
Goldfields, inland southern South West Land Division and far northern
Kimberley. Fresh and gusty winds in the morning over the Pilbara, North
Interior and southern Kimberley.
Forecast for Sunday 27 July
Showers and the chance of thunderstorms about the Central West, Lower West and
South West. Showers extending eastward into the Gascoyne, Goldfields and
remaining South West Land Division, possibly reaching western parts of the
Eucla and Pilbara later in the day or at night. Moderate to heavy falls
possible in the South West and Lower West. Areas of frost in the morning over
the eastern and northern South West Land Division, Goldfields, South Interior,
inland Gascoyne and southeast Kimberley. Possible morning fog in the far
northern Kimberley.
Forecast for Monday 28 July
Showers south of a line from Exmouth to Gascoyne Junction to Warburton, most
widespread about the South West Land Division and southern Goldfields. Possible
small hail through the Great Southern and south coastal districts. Chance of
thunderstorms near the south coast. Remaining colder than normal across much of
the State with fresh winds about much of southern, central and western WA.
