Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A tropical low 29U is moving west to the north of the Kimberley. It is forecast
to develop into a tropical cyclone today, as it tracks west to southwest over
open waters well north of the Pilbara. On Thursday, it is expected to turn
around and move east back towards the Kimberley coast. Meanwhile, a trough lies
slow moving over the western Pilbara.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A trough lies over the far eastern Goldfields and into the Eucla, moving east
and weakening today. A new high pressure ridge is developing over the southwest
of the State before slipping south and extending east on Tuesday near the south
coast. A high pressure system moves south of the Bight on Wednesday and
Thursday before a stronger ridge develops from the west later Thursday.
Forecast for the rest of Tuesday 15 April
Light showers possible over far southern parts of the South West Land Division
and far southern Goldfields. Chance of early morning showers and thunderstorms
over the Eucla and southeast Goldfields. Showers and thunderstorms over the
northern and central Kimberley. Chance of morning fog over the southern South
West Land Division, southern Goldfields and inland Central West district.
Forecast for Wednesday 16 April
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the far north and northwest Kimberley.
Possible evening showers over eastern parts of the South West Land division,
southern Goldfields and western Eucla. Chance of evening thunderstorms over the
southwest Goldfields and eastern Central Wheat Belt.
Forecast for Thursday 17 April
Showers over southern parts of the South West Land Division. Showers and the
chance of thunderstorms over the eastern South West Land Division, southeast
Gascoyne, Goldfields, Eucla, South Interior and north and northwest Kimberley.
Possible shower over the central and eastern Pilbara. Possible heavy falls over
the southern Goldfields.
Forecast for Friday 18 April
Showers over southern and eastern parts of the South West Land Division.
Showers and the chance of thunderstorms over the eastern Goldfields, South
Interior, Eucla, north and northwest Kimberley and northern central and eastern
Pilbara.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Tuesday.
