Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
Ex-Tropical Cyclone Dianne will continue to move inland through the Kimberley.
Elsewhere, a trough lies near the west Pilbara coast and will remain roughly
stationary during the next few days before starting to drift eastward on
Tuesday.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A high pressure centre moving through the Southern Ocean during the remainder
of the weekend will extend a persistent ridge through southern and central
parts of the State, while a stagnant trough lies near the west coast. An
upper-level trough will approach the west coast during this evening and Sunday,
producing some showers and thunderstorms over the South West Land Division. The
northern end of a cold front will brush past the south coast during Tuesday as
the trough starts to move inland from the west coast.
Forecast for the rest of Saturday 29 March
Ex-Tropical Cyclone Dianne will continue to move inland through the Kimberley
bringing heavy rainfall and strong wind gusts over central parts of the region.
Showers and thunderstorms across the rest of the Kimberley, increasing over
adjacent parts of the North Interior. Showers and the chance of a thunderstorm
over the eastern parts of the Lower West, Wheat Belt, Great Southern, South
Coastal District and west-central South East Coastal District.
Forecast for Sunday 30 March
Heavy rain and possible thunderstorms extending from the far southern Kimberley
into the North Interior. Showers and thunderstorms over the remainder of the
Kimberley, east Pilbara and northern South Interior. Showers and the slight
chance of a thunderstorm, mainly in the morning, about the west coast districts
to the south of Geraldton. Showers and storms throughout the Central Wheat
Belt, Great Southern, South Coastal District and South East Coastal District,
extending into the adjacent southern and western Goldfields. Hot temperatures
persisting over the west Pilbara, western Gascoyne and northern Central West.
Forecast for Monday 31 March
Rain and thunderstorms with possible heavy falls in the eastern North Interior.
Showers and thunderstorms in the Kimberley and remainder of the Interior.
Possible light showers over the south coast districts to the east of Albany.
Showers, especially early in the day, over the eastern Great Southern, Central
Wheat Belt, western and southern Goldfields and southern Gascoyne. Remaining
hot in western parts of the Gascoyne and Pilbara.
Forecast for Tuesday 1 April
Showers and thunderstorms in the Kimberley and North Interior, most likely over
eastern parts. Possible showers near the Pilbara coast and over the northeast
part of the South Interior. Light showers possible over the south coast and
adjacent inland parts to the west of Esperance. Tending milder over the
southwest corner of the State.
Forecast for Wednesday 2 April
Showers and thunderstorms in the far northeastern Kimberley. Possible showers
near the Pilbara coast, remaining central and eastern Kimberley, and over the
northeast part of the South Interior. Light showers possible over the south
coast and adjacent inland parts. Milder over the southern parts of the State.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:45 am WST Sunday.
