Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A broad trough lies over inland northern parts of the State. A tropical low
(21U) lies to the northwest of the Kimberley and will track towards the west in
the coming days. This system could become a tropical cyclone during the weekend
but it will remain well offshore from the WA coast.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
An inland trough will continue moving towards the east during the day. The
northern end of a cold front will brush the southwest corner during the day,
followed by a new ridge strengthening over southern and western WA later today
into Saturday. Another trough will deepen down the west coast on Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of Friday 21 February
Showers and gusty thunderstorms possible over the Kimberley, inland Pilbara,
inland Gascoyne, South Interior, northern and eastern Goldfields, Eucla and far
eastern South East Coastal District. Possible showers south and west of a line
from Dongara to Hyden to Esperance, most likely about the southwest coast.
Milder over most parts of the South West Land Division with moderate to fresh
west to southwesterly winds extending throughout.
Forecast for Saturday 22 February
Possible showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, inland Pilbara, inland
northern Gascoyne, far northern and eastern Goldfields, Eucla and South
Interior. Chance of showers about the south coast. Unseasonably mild throughout
the South West Land Division and southern half of the Goldfields.
Forecast for Sunday 23 February
Chance of showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, inland Pilbara, inland
Gascoyne, western Interior and far northern Goldfields. Tending warmer down the
west coast. Fresh and gusty east to southeasterly winds in the morning through
central WA and across the Scarp.
Forecast for Monday 24 February
Chance of showers and storms in the Kimberley, North Interior, inland
west-central Pilbara, and inland Gascoyne. Tending warmer about the southern
South West Land Division.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Friday.
