Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
Severe tropical cyclone Zelia lies offshore from the Pilbara coast and is
moving slowly westwards. The system is forecast to turn south overnight and
track towards the Pilbara coast, crossing the central Pilbara coast late on
Friday. A broad low pressure trough extends from the cyclone across the
Kimberley.

Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A ridge is strengthening along the south coast and will extend further east
during Friday as a high moves south of the State. A trough will form near the
west coast on the weekend.

Forecast for the rest of Thursday 13 February
Widespread rain areas and the chance of thunderstorms over the east Pilbara and
North Interior. Very windy along the east Pilbara coast with heavy falls
possible. Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, remaining
Pilbara, far northeast Gascoyne and central and north Interior. Cloudy near the
south coast.

Forecast for Friday 14 February
Very windy conditions with heavy rainfall over the central and east Pilbara
coast, depending on the movement of tropical cyclone Zelia. Showers and gusty
thunderstorms over the Kimberley, remaining Pilbara, northern Gascoyne and
central and north Interior. Possible showers about coastal parts of the South
East Coastal and Eucla districts. Windy over central parts of the State.

Forecast for Saturday 15 February
Very windy conditions possible with heavy falls over the Pilbara, northeast
Gascoyne and western Interior, depending on the movement of tropical cyclone
Zelia. Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, remaining Gascoyne
and North Interior. Possible showers over the remaining Interior and far
northern Goldfields.

Forecast for Sunday 16 February
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara and North Interior.
Showers and isolated gusty thunderstorms over the Gascoyne, Goldfields and
South Interior. Chance of showers over the remainder of the State except for
the southwest corner.

Forecast for Monday 17 February
Showers and gusty thunderstorms for the Kimberley, Interior and far eastern
Pilbara. Showers possible for the remainder of the State.
