Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A broad low pressure trough will remain over northern WA during the next few
days. A weak low pressure centre may develop within the trough over the
Kimberley during the weekend.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A trough is moving inland from the west coast while a ridge will strengthen
over the south coast during Thursday. The trough will deepen back into the
South West later Friday into Saturday before moving eastward on Sunday. A new
ridge will strengthen across the western part of the State in the wake of the
trough.
Forecast for the rest of Thursday 6 February
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, inland northern
Gascoyne, central and southern Goldfields, adjacent Great Southern and South
East Coastal District. Chance of showers in the South Coastal District. and the
adjacent far northern Southeast Coastal district. Possible shower over the
Southern Coastal and South East Coastal districts. Very hot over most of the
State, apart from areas near the west and south coasts.
Forecast for Friday 7 February
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley and Pilbara. Chance of a
light shower early in the day over the South Coastal and South East Coastal
Districts. Remaining very hot over most of the State, apart from the northern
Kimberley and locations near the west and south coasts.
Forecast for Saturday 8 February
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley and adjacent northern
Pilbara and Northern Interior districts. Chance of a shower or storm, mainly
later in the day, over the South West and South Coastal Districts. Slight
chance of a shower in the southern Goldfields and South East Coastal District,
and in the evening across the Lower West. Remaining very hot over most of the
State, apart from the northern Kimberley and locations near the west coast.
Tending hotter about the inland South West, South Coastal District and South
East Coastal District.
Forecast for Sunday 9 February
Chance of showers west of a line from Morawa to Merredin. Possible showers and
thunderstorms in the South West, South Coastal District, South East Coastal
District, western Eucla and south-central Goldfields. Showers and gusty
thunderstorms in the Kimberley, North Interior and east-central Pilbara, most
widespread in the northern Kimberley with moderate to heavy falls possible.
Very hot conditions persist from the Pilbara through the inland Gascoyne,
eastern South West Land Division, Goldfields, Interior and Eucla. Milder about
the western part of the South West Land Division.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Thursday.
