Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A broad low pressure trough lies over the Kimberley and extends offshore to a
weak low well north of the Pilbara. The monsoon has developed in the Timor Sea,
with the chance of a tropical low moving near the Kimberley or Pilbara coast
during the next few days.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A ridge lies along the south coast with a trough just crossing the west coast.
The west coast trough will move further inland today ahead of a weak cold
front. A new ridge develops rapidly to the south on Saturday.
Forecast for the rest of Friday 17 January
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne, northern
and western Interior and Goldfields and South West Land Division. Very hot over
the southwest Pilbara, northern and eastern Gascoyne, Goldfields, southern and
central Interior and South East Coastal districts. Windy in the morning through
inland parts of the South West Land Division and Gascoyne.
Fire Danger:
Extreme in the Kurroun, Lockwood, Roe, Lakes, Fitzgerald Coast, Fitzgerald
Inland, Esperance Coast and Esperance Inland fire weather districts.
Forecast for Saturday 18 January
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, inland Gascoyne,
north and west Interior and Goldfields. Possible morning showers for eastern
parts of the South West Land Division and Eucla. Very hot over the eastern
Eucla and Interior. Windy over the southern Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne,
Goldfields and Eucla.
Forecast for Sunday 19 January
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne, far
northwestern North Interior and northern parts of the South West Land Division.
Showers possible over the Goldfields and western parts of the Interior. Very
hot over the western Pilbara, Gascoyne, Central West, far northwest Central
Wheat Belt and Interior. Windy over the western Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne,
Goldfields and Eucla.
Forecast for Monday 20 January
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley and Pilbara. Showers
possible over the northwestern Gascoyne and northern Central West.Very hot over
the Gascoyne, Central West, Lower West, Central Wheat Belt, Great Southern,
Goldfields and Interior. Windy over the western Pilbara and northern Gascoyne.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Friday.
