Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A broad low pressure trough lies over northern parts of the state.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A high pressure ridge is becoming established south of the state with a trough
deepening down the west coast. The trough will move inland on Thursday as
another high pressure ridge pushes east along the south coast.
Forecast for the rest of Tuesday 31 December
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, northern and
central Interior, and northern Gascoyne. Chance of thunderstorms with little or
no rainfall over the remaining Gascoyne, far northern Goldfields, north and
eastern Central West and northern and central Central Wheat Belt districts. Hot
to very hot over much of the State away from the southern coastal districts.
Windy at times in the morning over central and southern parts, and about the
Darling Scarp.
Forecast for Wednesday 1 January
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, northern and
central Interior, Gascoyne, northern Goldfields and northern and western parts
of the South West Land Division. Hot to very hot across much of the state away
from the south coastal fringe. Windy in the morning over central and southern
parts, and about the Darling Scarp. Becoming windy later in the over
southeastern parts.
Forecast for Thursday 2 January
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, north and west
Interior, inland Gascoyne, north and west Goldfields, and inland South West
Land Division. Hot to very hot across much of the state away from the west
coastal fringe. Windy in the morning over central southern and eastern parts.
Forecast for Friday 3 January
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the north and west Kimberley, Pilbara,
inland Gascoyne and Goldfields. Milder temperatures over southern and southwest
parts of the South West Land Division. Windy in the morning over eastern parts.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Tuesday.
