Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A broad area of low pressure extends over northern WA. A drier easterly flow
developing from Wednesday over inland areas will contract the trough closer to
the coast and bring back heatwave conditions.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A ridge of high pressure extends along the southern coast. A trough will deepen
near the west coast during today, before moving inland later Wednesday and on
Thursday. A new ridge will arrive on the west coast from the Indian Ocean on
Wednesday night and will extend along the south coast later in the week.
Forecast for the rest of Tuesday 17 December
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, northern Interior
and far northern parts of the Gascoyne. Windy over southern and central WA.
Very hot over eastern Kimberley, western Pilbara, western Gascoyne, Central
West and northern parts of Lower West.
Forecast for Wednesday 18 December
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, northern and western
Pilbara, western Gascoyne and northern parts of North Interior. Chance of a
shower or thunderstorm over inland parts of the South West Land Division with
little or no rainfall. Windy in the morning over the Pilbara, Gascoyne,
northern Interior and southeast Kimberley. Very hot over inland parts of the
South West Land Division, Gascoyne, western Pilbara and eastern Kimberley.
Forecast for Thursday 19 December
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, southern Gascoyne,
and northeastern parts of Central Wheat Belt . Light showers about the southern
coastal parts of the South West Land Division. Becoming windy over southern WA.
Very hot over inland Central West, northern parts of the Central Wheat Belt,
northern Goldfields, Gascoyne, Pilbara, Kimberley and northern Interior.
Forecast for Friday 20 December
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley and western Pilbara. Light
showers about the Eucla coast. Becoming windy over southern WA. Very hot over
inland Central West, northern parts of the Central Wheat Belt, northern
Goldfields, Gascoyne, Pilbara, Kimberley and northern Interior.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Tuesday.
