Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A high pressure ridge pushing in from the west is bringing fresh southwesterly
winds to the western Pilbara. Elsewhere, a trough extends from the inland
central Pilbara into the Interior. A tropical low is expected to develop over
offshore waters to the northwest of the Kimberley coast later in the weekend.
It is forecast to move west offshore from the Pilbara coast during next week.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A ridge should persist south of WA whilst a low pressure trough sits near the
west coast over the weekend. It will move inland on Monday before another one
develops from mid week.
Forecast for the rest of Saturday 7 December
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Interior and eastern Pilbara.
Possible heavy falls with thunderstorms over the northern Kimberley. Chance of
showers and thunderstorms over the far southern Central Wheat Belt, Great
Southern, western South East Coastal, and eastern South Coastal district later
in the afternoon and evening. Windy over southeastern, central parts and over
the Darling Scarp.
Forecast for Sunday 8 December
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Interior, central and eastern
Pilbara, eastern Gascoyne, inland South West Land Division, Goldfields and
Eucla. Morning Showers possible over the the remaining parts of the Lower West
district. Possible heavy falls with thunderstorms over the northern Kimberley.
Windy morning over central parts and over the Darling Scarp.
Forecast for Monday 9 December
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Interior, Pilbara, northeastern
Gascoyne, northeast Southeast Coastal district, Goldfields and Eucla. Chance of
showers possible over remaining southern districts. Possible heavy falls with
thunderstorms over the northwestern Kimberley.
Forecast for Tuesday 10 December
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Interior, Pilbara, Gascoyne and
northern Goldfields. Possible showers over the remaining Goldfields, Eucla and
eastern South West Land Division.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Saturday.
