Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A trough extends from inland Kimberley to the Pilbara. The trough extension
over the Pilbara is moving east, as a high pressure ridge strengthens to the
south and brings fresh southerly winds to the west Pilbara. A new trough will
develop about the west Pilbara coast by Thursday.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A trough over eastern parts of the South West Land Division is contracting
east, while a weak cold front is approaching the southwest coast. The front
will brush past the southern coastal districts early Wednesday, followed by a
new ridge that will rapidly extend along the south coast during Wednesday.
Another trough will develop near the west coast by Thursday, before moving
inland on Saturday ahead of the next weak cold front about the southwest coast.
Forecast for the rest of Wednesday 9 October
Light showers, mostly in the morning, south of a line Eneabba to Israelite Bay
and extending eastward along the Eucla coast. Showers and thunderstorms
possible over the northern Kimberley, Pilbara, northern and eastern parts of
the Gascoyne, northern Goldfields, inland Eucla and southern South Interior.
Very hot over the Kimberley. Cooler through the southern Goldfields and South
East Coastal District. Windy through the western and southern Pilbara,
northeast Gascoyne, southern and central Interior, southern Goldfields and
Eucla.
Forecast for Thursday 10 October
Showers and possible thunderstorms over northern and western Kimberley,
Pilbara, Gascoyne, northern Goldfields, western and southern Interior. Possible
afternoon shower or thunderstorm over northern parts of the Central West.
Chance of morning frost through inland parts of the South East Coastal
District. Very hot over inland Kimberley, becoming warmer down the west coast.
Windy at times during the day south of northern Kimberley.
Forecast for Friday 11 October
Showers and possible thunderstorms in western and northern Kimberley, eastern
Pilbara, western and southern Interior, Eucla, eastern Goldfields and far
northeast Gascoyne. Slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm southwest of a
line Mandurah to Bremer Bay. Very hot through inland Kimberley and very warm
over the South West Land Division. Windy at times during the day over southern
and eastern parts of the state.
Forecast for Saturday 12 October
Showers and chance of a thunderstorm over southern and central parts of the
South West Land Division, southern Goldfields, Eucla, South Interior and
Kimberley. Very hot through inland Kimberley and very warm over the South West
Land Division.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Wednesday.
