Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A trough extends from the inland Kimberley and into the Pilbara. The trough
will remain slow moving before contracting east across the inland Pilbara early
in the week as a high pressure ridge strengthens to the south and brings fresh
southerly winds to the west Pilbara.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A ridge of high pressure over central WA is moving slowly south to be located
near the south coast later today, contracting east on Tuesday. Meanwhile, a
trough will develop over inland WA and move east on Tuesday and Wednesday,
ahead of a cold front moving over the southwest corner Tuesday night. A new
ridge will rapidly develop along the south coast in the wake of the cold front
and another trough will develop off the west coast on Thursday.
Forecast for the rest of Monday 7 October
Possible light shower about coastal parts between Margaret River and Albany.
Chance of an afternoon shower or thunderstorm over the Kimberley, northern
North Interior, eastern Goldfields and southern South Interior. Chance of
morning fog over western and southern parts of the South West Land Division.
Hot over western parts of the Kimberley.
Forecast for Tuesday 8 October
Showers developing southwest of Bunbury to Albany during the afternoon and
evening. Showers and thunderstorms possible over the north and west Kimberley,
southern Goldfields, eastern parts of the South West Land Division and west
Eucla. Chance of morning fog over central and southern parts of the South West
Land Division. Hot over western and central parts of the Kimberley.
Forecast for Wednesday 9 October
Showers, mostly in the morning, south of a line Jurien Bay to Merredin to
Balladonia and along the Eucla coast. Showers and thunderstorms possible over
the northwest Kimberley, inland Pilbara, northeastern Gascoyne, north and east
Goldfields, and west and south South Interior. Hot over western and central
parts of the Kimberley.
Forecast for Thursday 10 October
Showers and thunderstorms possible over the north and west Kimberley, Pilbara,
Gascoyne, northwest parts of the Interior and northeast Central West district.
Chance of a shower over the northern and eastern Goldfields, Southern Interior
and northern Eucla. Hot over western and central parts of the Kimberley.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Monday.
