Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A trough extends from the inland Kimberley and into the Pilbara. The trough
will remain slow moving today before moving east across the inland Pilbara
early next week as a high pressure ridge strengthens to the south and brings
fresh southerly winds to the west Pilbara.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A ridge of high pressure over central WA will slowly move south today to be
located near the south coast by Monday, before moving east on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, a trough will develop over inland WA and move east on Tuesday and
Wednesday, ahead of a cold front moving over the southwest corner Tuesday
night. A new ridge will rapidly develop along the south coast in the wake of
the cold front.
Forecast for the rest of Sunday 6 October
Light showers southwest of a line from Lancelin to Bremer Bay. Chance of an
afternoon shower or thunderstorm over the northern and central Kimberley.
Chance of morning fog over inland South West Land Division, and inland Eucla.
Hot over western parts of the Kimberley.
Forecast for Monday 7 October
Possible light shower about coastal parts between Margaret River and Bremer
Bay. Chance of an afternoon shower or thunderstorm over the Kimberley, northern
North Interior, eastern Goldfields and southern South Interior. Chance of
morning fog over western and southern parts of the South West Land Division.
Hot over western parts of the Kimberley.
Forecast for Tuesday 8 October
Showers developing southwest of Bunbury to Albany during the afternoon and
evening. Showers and thunderstorms possible over the north and west Kimberley,
west and south Goldfields, eastern parts of the South West Land Division and
west Eucla. Chance of morning fog over western, central and southern parts of
the South West Land Division. Hot over western and central parts of the
Kimberley.
Forecast for Wednesday 9 October
Showers, mostly in the morning, south of a line Geraldton to Merredin to
Balladonia and along the Eucla coast. Showers and thunderstorms possible over
the north and west Kimberley, inland Pilbara, eastern Gascoyne, north and east
Goldfields, and west and south South Interior. Hot over western and central
parts of the Kimberley.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Sunday.
