Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A weak trough lies over the Kimberley and extends west along the Pilbara coast.
A cold front will move east across southern and central WA during today,
followed by a ridge across southern Pilbara and western Gascoyne later. The
trough will get pushed inland early next week as the ridge extends over central
WA.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A strong cold front is moving east across the South West Land Division and will
slowly weaken as it moves further east during today. A low pressure system has
formed near the south coast overnight and move east while slowly deepening on
today, maintaining a vigorous westerly flow across the southern half. The low
will weaken and move away to the east on Monday with another high pressure
ridge extending over the central west coast. A weak front will brush past the
southwest coast on Tuesday.
Forecast for the rest of Sunday 18 August
Showers and areas of rain over the South West Land Division, central and
southern Goldfields, southern Gascoyne and Eucla. Heavy falls possible south of
a line Collie to Norseman. Light showers over western Pilbara, northern
Gascoyne and far northern Goldfields, clearing in the morning. Possible gusty
thunderstorms across the southern and western districts of the South West Land
Division. Windy over southern and central parts of the State, very windy over
the southern districts. Surf conditions will be hazardous for coastal
activities and tides will be higher than normal along the south and lower west
coasts.
Forecast for Monday 19 August
Light showers over the South West Land Division, southern Goldfields and Eucla,
more frequent and moderate over the southern districts. Windy over southern
parts of the state, easing later in the day. Surf conditions will be hazardous
for coastal activities and tides will be higher than normal along the south
coast.
Forecast for Tuesday 20 August
Showers about the south coast and west coast, extending to much of the South
West Land Division during the day.
Forecast for Wednesday 21 August
Showers over the South West Land Division, southern Gascoyne, southern
Goldfields and Eucla.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Sunday.
