Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A broad low pressure trough will persist over the north of the State for the
next few days. A tropical low lies well offshore from the Pilbara coast. The
low is forecast to move southwest, remaining offshore, and intensify into a
tropical cyclone overnight on Sunday.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A ridge of high pressure south of the state is slowly moving east. A trough
extends down the west coast and will move inland on Sunday ahead of a new
ridge. A weak cold front will brush the south coast on Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of Saturday 16 March
Showers and thunderstorms over most of the Kimberley and Pilbara, the northwest
North Interior, western Gascoyne and Central West. Possible showers over the
southern Goldfields, Eucla and south coastal districts. Windy at times over the
western Pilbara. Very hot across the southwest Pilbara and northwest Gascoyne.
Forecast for Sunday 17 March
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, northwest Interior,
Gascoyne and northern and central parts of the South West Land Division. Windy
about the Pilbara and Gascoyne coasts.
Forecast for Monday 18 March
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, northwest Interior,
Gascoyne, western Goldfields and northern and eastern parts of the South West
Land Division. Showers along the south coast. Windy over the Pilbara coast and
Gascoyne coast.
Forecast for Tuesday 19 March
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, northwest Interior,
Gascoyne, western Goldfields and far northern parts of the South West Land
Division. Showers through the southeast of the state. Windy over the Pilbara
coast and Gascoyne coast.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Saturday.
