Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
Ex-Tropical Cyclone Lincoln lies west of Broome and is tracking towards the
west-southwest. It is likely to redevelop into a tropical cyclone today,
remaining north of the Pilbara coast. It is expected to take a more south to
southwesterly track on Friday night, passing close to the North West Cape on
Saturday and eventually moving inland over the west Pilbara or Gascoyne.
Elsewhere, a trough over the northern part of the Kimberley will drift
southward during the weekend.

Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A trough extends from the northwest of the State into the northern and western
Gascoyne and then eastward through the Interior. A high pressure ridge is
evident through southern and western WA with the centre of the high expected to
move south of the State during Friday. A new trough will deepen down the west
coast on Friday before moving inland on Saturday. Ex-Tropical Cyclone Lincoln
is likely to redevelop into a cyclone to the north of the Pilbara today, and
could be near the Gascoyne coast later on Saturday, continuing southeast into
the inland Gascoyne or Central Wheat Belt on Sunday. A new ridge will
strengthen over southern parts of the State from Sunday.

Forecast for the rest of Friday 23 February
Isolated showers and thunderstorms over the northern and western part of the
Kimberley, North Interior and eastern Pilbara, tending more widespread over the
north and west Pilbara and northern Gascoyne. Chance of a thunderstorm over the
remainder of the Gascoyne and eastern parts of the Central West. Fresh and
gusty winds in the morning across the Scarp and throughout central WA. Gusty
winds about the west-central Pilbara coast. Very hot over the Gascoyne, North
Interior and northern parts of the South West Land Division.

Forecast for Saturday 24 February
Very strong winds, heavy rainfall and possible thunderstorms over the west
Pilbara and northwest Gascoyne associated with a likely tropical cyclone.
Possible showers and thunderstorms over the remaining Pilbara and Gascoyne,
Central West, Central Wheat Belt, Lower West, west-central Goldfields, northern
and eastern Great Southern and South East Coastal District. Isolated showers
and storms in the North Interior and Kimberley. Possible showers in the South
Coastal District.

Forecast for Sunday 25 February
Windy conditions, rain and gusty thunderstorms, with possible heavy falls over
the western and southern Gascoyne, inland Central West and Central Wheat Belt.
Isolated showers and thunderstorms over the inland Pilbara, Kimberley, North
Interior, and remainder of the Gascoyne. Showers and thunderstorms possible
through much of the South West Land Division, except for the South West Capes
which should be dry.

Forecast for Monday 26 February
Possible showers and thunderstorms in the Kimberley, Pilbara, North Interior,
inland Gascoyne, Central Wheat Belt and western Goldfields. Possible showers
about the southern South West Land Division.
