Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A broad trough will persist over the inland Kimberley and Pilbara.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A high pressure system in the Bight extends a ridge over southeastern parts of
the state with a deep trough extending down the west coast. The trough will
move inland today and gradually move out of the State by Wednesday as a new
high pressure ridge develops from the west. Another trough will develop over
western parts on Thursday.
Forecast for the rest of Monday 8 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the central and east Kimberley. Chance of
thunderstorms, with little or no rainfall, over the remaining west Kimberley,
North Interior and eastern Pilbara. Showers or drizzle over coastal and
adjacent inland parts of the Eucla, mostly morning. Very hot over the southern
Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne and inland parts of the South West Land Division.
Windy over central parts.
Fire Danger:
Extreme in the northern Pilbara, parts of the Central West, Central Wheat Belt,
Lower West, South West, Great Southern and South Coastal districts.
Forecast for Tuesday 9 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley and northeast North Interior.
Chance of thunderstorms, with little or no rainfall, over the remaining North
Interior, eastern Pilbara and far northeast Gascoyne, and over far eastern
parts of the South West Land Division, southern Goldfields and far west Eucla.
Showers or drizzle about southern coastal districts west of Esperance. Very hot
over the southwest Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne, northern Interior, and
northern Goldfields. Windy over southwestern parts.
Forecast for Wednesday 10 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, central and northern Interior,
and eastern Pilbara. Possible thunderstorms, with little or no rainfall, over
the inland Gascoyne, northern and eastern parts of the South West Land
Division, and central and west Goldfields. Showers or drizzle about the South
and South Coastal districts. Very hot over the southwest Kimberley, Pilbara,
Gascoyne, Interior, inland northern parts of the South West Land Division, and
northern and central Goldfields.
Forecast for Thursday 11 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Interior, Pilbara, inland
Gascoyne, most parts of the South West Land Division, Goldfields and far west
Eucla. Very hot over the southern Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne, inland northern
parts of the South West Land Division, and northern and eastern Goldfields.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Monday.
