Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A broad low pressure trough extends over the Kimberley and eastern Pilbara
while a ridge extends from the Indian Ocean into the west Pilbara and adjacent
waters. A relatively strong cold front will sweep through southern WA on Sunday
night and Monday, followed by a strong ridge building eastward. This ridge will
push the trough off the Pilbara coast and bring a fresh surge of southeasterly
winds on Tuesday morning.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A weak high pressure ridge is building across the southwest of the State. A
strong cold front will sweep through southern and central parts of the State
during Sunday night and Monday. A strong ridge will become established across
much of the State in the wake of this front.
Forecast for the rest of Sunday 1 October
Areas of morning fog over the inland Central West, northeast Lower West and
western Wheat Belt. Showers south and west of a line from Geraldton to Bremer
Bay, generally on an increasing trending during the afternoon and evening.
Becoming windy over the lower west and southwest coasts during the afternoon or
evening.
Forecast for Monday 2 October
Showers over the South West Land Division, far southern Gascoyne, southwest
Goldfields and western Eucla, most frequent with chance of gusty thunderstorms
and possible small hail about the southwest and south coasts. Much cooler than
normal and windy across southern WA and trending cooler through central and
western parts of the State.
Forecast for Tuesday 3 October
Showers about the south coastal districts, mainly during the morning except
along the Eucla coast. Possible morning frost in the Great Southern and
southern parts of the Wheat Belt. Fresh and gusty winds in the morning through
central parts of the State, as well as the Pilbara and North Interior. Cooler
than normal through much of the State bar the Kimberley and northeast Pilbara.
Forecast for Wednesday 4 October
Possible light shower over the far southwest of the State. Possible morning
frost over the southwestern Goldfields and far eastern Great Southern. Apart
from the northern Kimberley, fresh and gusty winds in the morning through the
northern parts of the State.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Sunday.
