Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A weak trough lies near the Kimberley and Pilbara coasts and extends down the
Gascoyne coast. A high pressure ridge will strengthen over northern parts of
the State during the weekend, increasing the east to southeasterly flow pushing
the trough further offshore on Sunday and Monday.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A high pressure ridge extends through most of the State with the associated
high pressure centre moving across the Southern Ocean to lie south of the Bight
on Monday. A trough near the Gascoyne coast connects to a low pressure centre
which is offshore from the Mid West coast. The low will drift southward during
weekend, passing west of the South West Capes on Monday, as the trough extends
offshore from the lower west coast. The trough will start to move east on
Tuesday, crossing the west coast in advance of the next cold front which should
affect the southern and western part of the State on Wednesday.
