Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
Severe Tropical Cyclone Ilsa is located offshore of the west Kimberley coast,
moving in the southerly direction during today, crossing the coast between
Broome and Port Hedland later in the evening or early Friday. The cyclone will
travel well inland across the Pilbara and North Interior as it slowly decays
later on Friday and on Saturday.

Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A weak high pressure ridge lies over central parts of the South West Land
Division, ahead of a moderate cold front forecast to move over the southwest of
the State during today. An unseasonal cool to cold southwesterly flow will
follow on Friday over the south of the State. A weak cold front then brushes
the south coast on Saturday as a new ridge develops over central parts of the
South West Land Division.

Forecast for the rest of Thursday 13 April
Showers, rain and squally thunderstorms over the southwest Kimberley and
northwest Pilbara with heavy rainfall and damaging to destructive winds
possible, depending on the movement and development of Severe Tropical Cyclone
Ilsa. Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the remaining Kimberley, remaining
central and eastern Pilbara, northeast Gascoyne, Goldfields, Interior and
Eucla. Showers southwest of a line Perth to Albany, extending to southwest of a
line Kalbarri to Hyden to Balladonia by late evening. Possible thunderstorms
near the coast between Busselton and Denmark. Chance of morning fog across
inland parts of the Central West, adjacent northeast Lower West, western parts
of Central Wheat Belt and adjacent northwest Great Southern.

Forecast for Friday 14 April
Showers, rain and squally thunderstorms over the southwest Kimberley, east
Pilbara and northern parts of the Interior with heavy rainfall and damaging to
destructive winds possible, depending on the movement and development of Severe
Tropical Cyclone Ilsa. Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the remaining
Kimberley, northeast Gascoyne, southern Interior, Goldfields and Eucla. Cold
with showers over the South West Land Division. Chance of thunderstorms with
hail near the southwest coast.

Forecast for Saturday 15 April
Showers, rain and squally thunderstorms over eastern parts of the Interior
gradually easing, depending on the movement of Severe Tropical Cyclone Ilsa.
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley. Cool with showers over the
western and southern parts of the South West Land Division.

Forecast for Sunday 16 April
Possible showers over the north Kimberley with the chance of thunderstorms for
the far northeast. Showers over the southwest parts of the South West Land
Division, south of Lancelin and along the south coast.

The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Thursday.
