Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A broad trough lies over northern parts of the State and will remain in place
into early next week. A weak tropical low embedded within a trough north of the
Pilbara may move southward early next week, with the trough deepening down the
west Pilbara coast.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A weakening ridge of high pressure ridge lies south of the State while a broad
trough extends towards the west coast. The trough near the west coast will
begin to move inland today as a new ridge strengthens into the southwest corner
of the State. By Monday the trough will be over the Interior with the ridge
continuing to become established through southern and western parts of the
State. A weak trough will begin to develop down the west coast on Tuesday and
Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of Sunday 26 March
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the north and west Kimberley, Pilbara,
eastern Gascoyne, Goldfields, Eucla, western and southern Interior, and over
the South West Land Division south of Lancelin to Dalwallinu. Moderate to heavy
rainfall possible over inland central eastern parts of the South West Land
Division and inland South East Coastal District, Goldfields, northeast
Gascoyne, and western Interior. Possible large hail associated with
thunderstorms in the Goldfields. Thunderstorms mostly early in the day over the
South West and Lower West districts. Remaining humid across the South West Land
Division and Goldfields.
Forecast for Monday 27 March
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over western Kimberley, Pilbara, northeastern
Gascoyne, far north Goldfields, Eucla, and Interior. Moderate to heavy falls
possible from thunderstorms over the inland southeast Pilbara and Interior.
Possible showers over the southern Gascoyne, Goldfields, and south coastal
districts. Less humid across the South West Land Division and southern
Goldfields.
Forecast for Tuesday 28 March
Showers and gusty thunderstorms with possible moderate to heavy rainfall over
the inland Pilbara, far northeast Gascoyne and western Interior. Showers and
thunderstorms over the remaining northern Gascoyne, western Kimberley, and
northern and central Interior. Light showers over the south coastal districts
with areas of fog in the morning over inland southern parts of the State.
Forecast for Wednesday 29 March
Showers and thunderstorms with possible moderate to heavy rainfall over the
inland Pilbara, far central north Gascoyne. Showers and thunderstorms over the
remaining northern Gascoyne, western Kimberley, and north Interior. Light
showers over the south coastal districts.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Sunday.
