Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A deep tropical low near the over the Northern Territory is expected to
continue moving east. A trough extends from this tropical low across the
Kimberley into the Pilbara. The trough is expected to become slow moving for
the remainder of the week.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A firm ridge of high pressure extends over the south coast, while a trough is
deepening near the west coast. The trough will remain near stationary, moving
inland from the west coast on Friday as the ridge weakens. A new ridge will
build over the west coast in the wake of the trough from later Friday.
Forecast for the rest of Wednesday 1 March
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley with heavy falls possible in
the far north. Isolated showers and gusty thunderstorms over the far North
Interior, Pilbara, western and central Gascoyne and Central West district.
Windy over central and western parts. Hot to very hot over Central West and
Lower West.
Forecast for Thursday 2 March
Isolated showers and gusty thunderstorms over the northern and western
Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne and western parts of the South West Land Division.
Windy over the Gascoyne. Hot to very hot over western and northern parts of the
South West Land Division.
Forecast for Friday 3 March
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over western and central Kimberley, Pilbara,
Gascoyne and South West Land Division. Hot to very hot over northern parts and
inland parts of the South West Land Division.
Forecast for Saturday 4 March
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, eastern Gascoyne,
Goldfields, adjacent South Interior, western parts of Eucla and eastern parts
of the South West Land Division. Showers over South West district. Windy over
Goldfields and Eucla. Hot to very hot over the far northern parts of the South
West Land Division.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Wednesday.
