Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A broad area of low pressure lies over northern parts of the State. A ridge to
the south is driving a dry southeasterly airmass into the inland Kimberley,
pushing the trough closer to the north coast, however this trough is expected
to move further inland during the remainder of the week.

Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A deep surface trough extends from the western Pilbara through to the southeast
of the State. The trough will continue to move eastwards during the remainder
of today as a new high pressure ridge develops across the southwest coast. The
southern end of the trough will be pushed northeast out of the state by
Thursday and the ridge continues to extend east along the south coast. A weak
trough will develop near the west coast on Thursday before moving east ahead of
the remnants of a cold front brushing the western south coast later in the week.

Forecast for the rest of Wednesday 8 February
Showers and thunderstorms over the northwest Kimberley, mostly afternoon and
evening. Possible morning shower along the south coast between Albany and
Esperance. Very hot over southeastern, central and northern parts.

Forecast for Thursday 9 February
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley and adjacent northeast Pilbara,
mostly afternoon and evening. Possible morning coastal shower along the
Esperance coast. Very hot over central and northern parts.

Forecast for Friday 10 February
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley and Pilbara, mostly afternoon and
evening. Very hot over central and northern parts.

Forecast for Saturday 11 February
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, and far northeast
Gascoyne, mostly afternoon and evening. Very hot over central and northern
parts.

The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Wednesday.
