Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A broad trough extends from the inland Pilbara into the North Interior and
southern Kimberley, and will remain in place through to early next week.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A high pressure centre over the Southern Ocean will move eastward to reach the
Tasman Sea on Monday. As the high moves east the ridge over southern WA will
begin to weaken. A trough lies down the west coast of the State and will start
to move slowly inland during Monday. On Tuesday the trough is likely to
continue eastward as a new ridge extends across the west coast.
Forecast for the rest of Saturday 21 January
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, northern parts of
the Interior, inland Gascoyne, and most western parts of the South West Land
Division bar the Lower West and Central West coast. Possible moderate to heavy
falls from slow-moving storms in the inland Pilbara and Kimberley. Hot
conditions in the South West and Lower West.
Forecast for Sunday 22 January
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, North Interior,
Gascoyne, South West, South Coastal District, Great Southern, Central Wheat
Belt, and inland parts of the Lower West and Central West. Isolated heavy falls
possible in the north and west Kimberley. Remaining very warm to hot in the
western part of the South West Land Division.
Forecast for Monday 23 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, North Interior, inland
Gascoyne, and inland Central West. Hot conditions persisting in the inland
South West Land Division.
Forecast for Tuesday 24 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Pilbara, North Interior and Kimberley.
Chance of showers and storms extending down into the inland South West and
Great Southern. Hot through the inland South West Land Division but starting to
tend milder along the western south coast and immediate west coast.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Saturday.
