Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
Ex-Tropical Cyclone Ellie is located over the North Interior and is moving
southeast, reaching the WA/NT border today and exiting the state. A weak area
of low pressure will persist over the Pilbara and Kimberley into next week.

Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A ridge of high pressure extending across the southeastern parts of the state
is contracting east. A trough over the South West Land Division continues to
move eastwards, ahead of a weak cold front about the southwest coast. The next
ridge of high pressure will extend over the southwest coast tonight in the wake
of the cold front, and extend across the southern parts of the state on the
weekend. Another trough will develop on the west coast on Monday.

Forecast for the rest of Saturday 7 January
Rain, showers and gusty thunderstorms over the southeastern parts of the North
Interior and northeastern parts of the South Interior, with heavy falls and
damaging wind gusts possible, contracting east during the morning. Showers and
thunderstorms over the Kimberley and remaining parts of the North Interior.
Light showers about the southern coastal districts west of Israelite Bay. Windy
over the far southeast Kimberley, eastern North Interior, Eucla and adjacent
South Interior and Goldfields.

Forecast for Sunday 8 January
Showers and chance of thunderstorms over the east Pilbara, northwestern parts
of the North Interior and the Kimberley. Showers about the far eastern parts of
the Interior. Windy over the Goldfields, Eucla and South Interior. Very hot
over southwest Pilbara, western Gascoyne and far northern parts of Central West.

Forecast for Monday 9 January
Showers and chance of thunderstorms over the Kimberley and east Pilbara.
Showers about the far eastern parts of the Interior. Chance of thunderstorms
with little or no rainfall over southern Gascoyne, northern parts of the South
West Land Division, northwest Goldfields and far west South Interior. Windy
over southern parts of the State. Very hot over southwest Pilbara, western
Gascoyne, Central West and Lower West.

Forecast for Tuesday 10 January
Showers and chance of thunderstorms over the Kimberley. Showers about the far
eastern parts of the Interior. Showers and chance of thunderstorms over
southern Gascoyne, South West Land Division and west Goldfields. Windy over the
Gascoyne and Central West. Very hot over southwest Pilbara, central Gascoyne
and inland parts of the South West Land Division.
