Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A trough lies through inland parts of WA and will remain in place through the
weekend. Another trough moving eastward through the Indian Ocean will cross the
west Pilbara and Gascoyne coast during Sunday and then will contract
southeastward into the Interior on Monday as a ridge strengthens into the
Pilbara. The trough will extend from the Interior through the Pilbara coast on
Tuesday.

Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A mid-level trough is weakening over the southwest corner of the State, while a
high moves eastward south of the State. Another trough will move eastward
across the west coast today. The trough will move into the Goldfields on
Monday, with a weak low developing near the South West and slowing the eastward
progression of the southern end of the trough. By Tuesday the trough will
extend from South Australia back over the Esperance coast while a weak cold
front moves over far southwestern parts of the State on Wednesday.

Forecast for the rest of Sunday 23 October
Showers and rain increasing during the day over most of the South West Land
Division and the southwest Goldfields. Possible moderate rainfall, most likely
over the Lower West, northern and eastern parts of the South West, and the
western Great Southern and South coastal districts. Slight chance of
thunderstorms within this area and over the far northern Kimberley. Very hot
over the northeast Kimberley.

Forecast for Monday 24 October
Showers over the South West Land Division, southern Goldfields and Eucla.
Possible moderate rainfall in the morning across the Great Southern, South
Coastal District and western Southeast Coastal district. Chance of showers and
thunderstorms mainly later in the day through the central and eastern
Goldfields. Isolated high-based showers associated with a cloud band through
the east-central Pilbara and North Interior. Chance of afternoon and evening
thunderstorms over the northeast Kimberley, where very hot conditions will
persist.

Forecast for Tuesday 25 October
A few showers over the south coastal districts and southern parts of the Great
Southern. Chance of an early morning shower in the Lower West; otherwise,
partly cloudy. Chance of showers and thunderstorms through the Eucla and
southern parts of the South Interior with high-based showers possible from a
cloud band over the North Interior and northern South Interior. Hot over the
northeast Kimberley with the chance of an afternoon thunderstorm.

Forecast for Wednesday 26 October
Showers overs far southern parts of the South West Land Division. Hot over the
northeast Kimberley with the chance of an afternoon thunderstorm.
