Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
Ex-Tropical Cyclone Anika was located inland over the east Pilbara at 2am WST
Thursday and moving south southeast. It crossed the coast last night near
Wallal and will weaken further as it moves southeast through the Pilbara and
Interior today and Friday. In remaining parts, a trough extends from the
Pilbara in to central parts of the state.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A trough extends from the northeast Gascoyne and into the South Interior. A new
high pressure ridge will extend east south of the state behind the trough and
remain there until at least the weekend.
Forecast for the rest of Thursday 3 March
Very windy, rain with heavy falls possible over the far southwest Kimberley,
western parts of the Interior, and eastern parts of the Pilbara. Showers and
gusty thunderstorms elsewhere over the Kimberley, central Pilbara, Interior,
far northeast Gascoyne and Eucla. Possible light showers near the south coast.
Forecast for Friday 4 March
Windy, rain with heavy falls possible over the South Interior, far southern
parts of the North Interior, easing during the day. Showers and gusty
thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara and remaining Interior.
Forecast for Saturday 5 March
Showers and thunderstorms over most parts of the Kimberley, northeast North
Interior and northwestern Pilbara. Patchy rain or showers over the South
Interior and northeast Eucla.
Forecast for Sunday 6 March
Showers and thunderstorms over most parts of the Kimberley, northern North
Interior and northwestern Pilbara.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Thursday.
