Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
An active monsoon trough extends across the Kimberley while another trough
remains over inland parts of the Pilbara. A developing Tropical Low located
over southeast Kimberley is moving west and is expected to become slow moving
over the southern Kimberley or adjacent North Interior through Monday before
weakening and moving further west middle of the week.

Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A deep trough extending from inland Gascoyne to the south coast is moving east.
A new ridge will develop south of the state on Monday and push the trough back
offshore on Tuesday.

Forecast for the rest of Monday 31 January
Monsoonal rain, squally showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, far
northeast Pilbara and Interior with possible heavy falls. Damaging wind gusts
with thunderstorms over the western coastal areas of the Kimberley, with
locally destructive winds possible with thunderstorms in the southwest
Kimberley. Showers near the coast and the adjacent inland between Augusta and
Balladonia and about the northeast Eucla District.

Forecast for Tuesday 1 February
Monsoonal rain, squally showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, eastern
Pilbara, North Interior and eastern parts of South Interior. Heavy falls
possible over the western and southern Kimberley, northern parts of North
Interior and far northeast Pilbara.

Forecast for Wednesday 2 February
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, eastern Pilbara, North Interior
and northeast parts of South Interior. Heavy falls possible over the southern
Kimberley, North Interior and eastern Pilbara.

Forecast for Thursday 3 February
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, North Interior and far
northern parts of South Interior. Isolated heavy falls possible over the
southwest Kimberley, North Interior and eastern Pilbara.

The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Monday.
