Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia

ridge extends through the North Interior and southern Kimberley. The trough
over the Pilbara will contract towards the southeast during Monday and Tuesday
as a weak ridge extends into the western part of the region. The ridge will
remain strong through the Kimberley through to at least Thursday, keeping the
trough near the coast.

A trough and embedded low near the west coast will move slowly towards the
southeast during Monday and Tuesday. A weak ridge develops south of the state
in the wake of the trough. By Wednesday the trough and low will accelerate
southeast into the Bight with the northern part of the trough remaining over
the Interior. The trough over central parts of the State is likely to deepen
and become more active on Thursday, and may extend back toward the Perth metro
area later in the week.
