Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A ridge strengthening through the North West Cape will move into the inland
Pilbara during today and Thursday as a trough currently over the Kimberley
deepens westwards over the north Pilbara coast. The ridge will strengthen
through southern and western parts of the Kimberley on Friday.

Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A cold front moving over southeast parts of the State will contract into South
Australia during today. A deep low pressure system has weakened into a trough
that is moving south of the State. A weak trough will then brush the southwest
corner of the State on Wednesday afternoon. An Indian Ocean ridge is
strengthening into the Gascoyne, and the ridge axis will slip south on Thursday
and Friday to bring more settled conditions across southern WA.

Forecast for the rest of Wednesday 20 October
Showers over the South West Land Division, southern Goldfields, and far
southern Gascoyne. Possible showers and storms mainly in the morning over the
South Interior and Eucla. Chance of an afternoon shower or thunderstorm in the
north Kimberley. Very hot temperatures across much of the Kimberley.

Forecast for Thursday 21 October
Showers over the South West Land Division, easing during the afternoon. Chance
of thunderstorms in the northeast Kimberley. Very hot weather continuing across
much of the Kimberley.

Forecast for Friday 22 October
Possible showers over the south coastal districts and southern parts of the
Great Southern. Very hot across the Kimberley with the chance of showers and
thunderstorms over the northeast part of the region.

Forecast for Saturday 23 October
Slight chance of showers about the south coast. Fresh and gusty east to
southeasterly winds in the morning through the South Interior, Gascoyne, North
Interior, and inland Pilbara. Possible showers and thunderstorms in the east
and north Kimberley with hot temperatures persisting through central and
western parts.

The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Wednesday.
