Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A Tropical Low lies northwest of the Kimberley coast. It may develop into a
Tropical Cyclone as it approaches the east Pilbara coast or west Kimberley
coast during today before crossing the coast on Saturday. There is however
still some uncertainty of the movement and development of the system.

Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A deep surface trough extends from the inland Gascoyne to the Eucla with a high
pressure ridge lying south of the State. Another trough extends from the
Gascoyne to the southwest coast and will deepen further during today and
Saturday as it moves slowly inland from the west coast. The trough will
continue to move east on Sunday as a weak front brushes the southwest of the
State. A tropical low will move through the Interior district during Sunday and
Monday. A new trough will begin to develop through central parts of the South
West Land Division on Monday as a ridge develops to the south of the State.

Forecast for the rest of Friday 22 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, eastern parts of the
Gascoyne, Goldfields, Interior, Eucla and inland eastern parts of the South
West Land Division. Light early showers about the western south coast. Squally
rain with heavy falls possible near the west Kimberley coast and northeast
Pilbara.

Forecast for Saturday 23 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, eastern Gascoyne,
Interior, Goldfields, Eucla and far eastern parts of the South West Land
Division. Squally rain with heavy falls possible over the west Kimberley, east
Pilbara and the northwest Interior.

Forecast for Sunday 24 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, eastern Pilbara, northeast
Gascoyne, Interior, Goldfields, Eucla and far eastern parts of the Southeast
Coastal district. Heavy falls possible over the southeast Pilbara and the
Interior. Showers possible southwest of a line from Perth to Albany.

Forecast for Monday 25 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Interior, eastern Goldfields and
the Eucla with moderate to heavy falls possible over the South Interior.
Showers possible along the south coast west of Hopetoun.

The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Friday.
