Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A tropical low located well off the Pilbara coast is moving southeast towards
the Pilbara and is likely to cross the coast to the east of Karratha during
Friday afternoon or evening. This low is unlikely to develop into a tropical
cyclone, however expect heavy rainfall and gusty winds, with shower and
thunderstorm activity through the central and east Pilbara region as it
approaches and crosses the coast. This low will weaken as it moves southeast
through the inland parts of the State Friday night and Saturday.

Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A ridge of high pressure lies to the south of the State. A deep surface trough
lies near the west coast and remain near stationary until the weekend. The
trough will weaken and move inland from the west coast on Saturday, followed by
a weak cold front that moves across the South West Land Division on Sunday.

Forecast for the rest of Friday 11 December
Showers and thunderstorms possible for most parts of the State except for
southern parts of the South West Land Division. Squally thunderstorms and rain
with possible heavy falls over the southwestern Kimberley, central and eastern
Pilbara, far northeast Gascoyne and parts of the Interior.

Forecast for Saturday 12 December
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley and Interior. Showers over parts
of the Pilbara, Gascoyne, Goldfields and Eucla.

Forecast for Sunday 13 December
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley and Interior. Showers across
western parts of the South West Land Division and along the south coast, also
through parts of the Pilbara.

Forecast for Monday 14 December
Showers and thunderstorms for parts of the Interior, Kimberley and inland
Pilbara. Light showers along the south coast.

The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Friday.
