Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A trough and associated rain band will reach the far western Pilbara later on
Sunday, before moving across northern parts of the State during Monday and
Tuesday. A high pressure ridge will develop over the Gascoyne in the wake of
the rain band.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A significant cold front and associated rain band near the west coast will move
across the State during Sunday and Monday. A cool, gusty and showery west to
southwesterly flow will continue in the wake of the front, before gradually
easing during Tuesday and Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of Sunday 9 August
Rain over western parts of the State, initially near the west coast in the
morning, extending through to be west of a line from Barrow Island to Israelite
Bay by midnight. Windy conditions with blowing dust possible through the inland
Gascoyne and northern Goldfields ahead of the rain. Thunderstorms possible
southwest of Geraldton to Albany. Moderate to heavy falls likely over the
western Gascoyne, western and northern part of the South West Land Division,
along with gusty winds.
Forecast for Monday 10 August
Areas of rain through the central and eastern Pilbara, eastern Gascoyne,
western and southern Interior and the Eucla. Showers over remaining inland
parts of the Gascoyne, the Goldfields and South West Land Division, gradually
easing from the north. The risk of thunderstorms over the South West Land
Division, southern Goldfields and adjacent Eucla. Gusty winds over western
parts of the South West Land Division, extending east during the day.
Forecast for Tuesday 11 August
Showers over the South West Land Division, southern and western Gascoyne, the
Goldfields and the Eucla, contracting to coastal parts by the evening. Rain
areas in the Interior, far eastern Pilbara and far southwest Kimberley,
contracting eastwards during the day.
Forecast for Wednesday 12 August
Showers over southern and western parts of the South West Land Division,
extending to inland parts for a period during the day. Showers also possible
along the Eucla coast, and over the far southwest Gascoyne.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Sunday.
