Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A ridge lies over central parts of the state for the next few days. Easterly
winds easing with afternoon sea breezes near the coast.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A strong cold front will cross the southwest of the state later Tuesday and
during Wednesday, with a deep low pressure system moving south of the State and
gale force winds along southern coastal parts. A weak cold front will brush the
south coast late Thursday and early Friday. A ridge of high pressure will
develop along the south coast late Friday and Saturday.
Forecast for the rest of Tuesday 5 May
Showers southwest of a line from Carnarvon to Kalgoorlie to Eyre with possible
squally thunderstorms through central and southern parts of the South West Land
Division, southern Goldfields and the adjacent Eucla. Damaging winds possible
in the late afternoon and evening over the southwest of the State. Moderate
falls in coastal parts grading to light over the Goldfields and northeastern
South West Land Division.
Forecast for Wednesday 6 May
Showers contracting to southwest of a line Geraldton to Merredin to Norseman to
Eucla. Showers will contract further to the Lower West, and the south coastal
and adjacent inland parts during the day. Damaging winds and thunderstorms
possible near the coast between Augusta and Israelite Bay during the morning.
Gale force gusty winds near the south coast. Dangerous surf conditions over
southern coastal waters and near the west coast south of Geraldton.
Forecast for Thursday 7 May
Showers about the south coast mostly west of Albany, and along the west coast
south of Jurien Bay.
Forecast for Friday 8 May
Showers over south coast districts, and along the west coast south of Jurien
Bay.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Tuesday.
