Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A surface trough extends from the Pilbara coast to the North Interior and will remain near stationary over the next few days. Tropical Cyclone Ferdinand is weakening well offshore to the northwest of Karratha and is not expected to directly affect the WA mainland. The remnants of Ex Tropical Cyclone Esther lies over the east Kimberley and will move west to lie over the west Kimberley during Saturday and then move southeast during Sunday and Monday.

Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A surface trough is moving inland from the west coast and will continue to move east during Saturday. A high pressure ridge will develop south of the State over the weekend and a high will lie well south of the State by Tuesday. A return to drier conditions over the next few days as thunderstorm activity moves east with the trough and eases.

Forecast for the rest of Friday 28 February
Rain and thunderstorms with possible heavy falls and damaging winds over the north Kimberley. Showers and thunderstorms over the inland Pilbara, inland Gascoyne, the South West Land Division, western Eucla, far northern Interior and the southwestern Goldfields.

Forecast for Saturday 29 February
Rain and thunderstorms with possible heavy falls and damaging winds over the Kimberley. Showers and thunderstorms over the inland Pilbara, inland Gascoyne, Goldfields, southwestern Interior, Eucla and central and eastern parts of the South West Land Division. Showers over remaining southern parts of the South West Land Division.

Forecast for Sunday 1 March
Rain and thunderstorms with possible heavy falls and damaging winds over the Kimberley. Showers and thunderstorms over the Interior, Pilbara, northeast Gascoyne, eastern Goldfields and Eucla. Showers over southern parts of the South West Land Division.

Forecast for Monday 2 March
Rain and thunderstorms with possible heavy falls and damaging winds over the Kimberley and the far northern Interior. Showers and thunderstorms over the Pilbara and northwest Gascoyne. Showers over the southeast Goldfields, Eucla and eastern parts of the South East Coastal district.

Forecast for Tuesday 3 March
Rain and thunderstorms over the southeast Kimberley and the far northern Interior. Showers and thunderstorms over the west Pilbara and northwest Gascoyne. Showers near the Eucla coast.

The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:45 am WST Saturday.
