Weather Situation - Northern Western Australia
Severe Category 3 Tropical Cyclone Damien is currently crossing the central Pilbara coast, just west of Karratha. The cyclone will continue to move south over the inland Pilbara during the remainder of Saturday before weakening as it moves towards the southern Pilbara on Sunday. Weather Situation - Southern and Central Western Australia
A deep trough lies over western parts of the Southwest Land Division and will move east during the remainder of Saturday and Sunday as a cold front brushes the far southwest coast from Saturday evening. A new ridge will extend along the south coast in the wake of the front on Sunday before drifting south of the State on Monday. Severe Tropical Cyclone Damien will move into the eastern Gascoyne by Monday but is expected to be a Tropical Low at that stage. The remnants of the cyclone will then move over southern parts of the State early
next week.
Forecast for the rest of Saturday 8 February
Very windy with areas of squally rain and thunderstorms with heavy falls possible over the central Pilbara, extending towards the northeast Gascoyne later this evening - depending on the movement and development of Severe Tropical Cyclone Damien. Showers and thunderstorms over the remaining Pilbara, Kimberley, Interior, remaining Gascoyne, southwest Goldfields and areas of the South West Land Division away from the west. Chance of a shower over the
northern Goldfields and the far southwest coastal district.
Forecast for Sunday 9 February
Areas of squally rain and thunderstorms with heavy falls possible over the inland central Pilbara, and the northeast Gascoyne, contracting from northern parts during the day. Showers and thunderstorms over the remaining Pilbara, Kimberley, remaining Gascoyne, northern Goldfields and the remaining Interior.
Forecast for Monday 10 February
Areas of rain and thunderstorms with heavy falls possible over the eastern Gascoyne and the adjacent Goldfields and Interior districts. Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, remaining Gascoyne, northern Goldfields and the remaining Interior.
Forecast for Tuesday 11 February
Areas of rain and the chance of thunderstorms with moderate falls possible over the southeastern Gascoyne, eastern parts of the Southwest Land Division and the adjacent Goldfields. Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, eastern Pilbara, Interior and far west Eucla.
Forecast for Wednesday 12 February
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, eastern Pilbara, northeastern Gascoyne and Interior. Showers and the chance of thunderstorms over eastern parts of the Southwest Land Division, southern Goldfields and western Eucla, clearing during the day. Slight chance of showers and thunderstorms over far southwestern parts of the Southwest Land Division.
