Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
Severe Category 3 Tropical Cyclone Damien lies over offshore waters north of the Pilbara and is moving towards the coast. It will continue to intensify during the remainder of Friday and into Saturday. It is then predicted to cross the central Pilbara coast during Saturday. Refer to

Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A deep trough lies just inland of the west coast and will remain near stationary during the remainder of Friday. The trough will result in very hot conditions over inland parts of the South West Land Division, as well as producing areas of thunderstorm activity. A cold front will brush across the south coast Saturday night and Sunday pushing the trough east into central WA. Severe Tropical Cyclone Damien is forecast to cross the central Pilbara coast on Saturday and moves into the eastern Gascoyne by Sunday. The remnants of the cyclone will move over southern parts of the state early next week, inland from the west coast.
Forecast for the rest of Friday 7 February
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, northern and central Interior, Gascoyne, southwest Goldfields and the South West Land Division, apart from the Southwest district. Winds increasing near the Pilbara coast with heavy falls possible, depending on the movement and development of Severe Tropical Cyclone Damien.
Forecast for Saturday 8 February
Windy with areas of squally rain and thunderstorms with heavy falls possible over the central Pilbara, extending to the northeast Gascoyne later in the day – depending on the movement and development of Severe Tropical Cyclone Damien. Showers and thunderstorms over the remaining Pilbara, Kimberley, Interior, remaining Gascoyne and the South West Land Division. Chance of a shower over the northern Goldfields.
Forecast for Sunday 9 February
Areas of squally rain and thunderstorms with heavy falls possible over the central Pilbara, and the northeast Gascoyne, contracting from northern parts during the day. Showers and thunderstorms over the remaining Pilbara, Kimberley, remaining Gascoyne, northern Goldfields and the remaining Interior.
Forecast for Monday 10 February
Areas of rain and thunderstorms with moderate to heavy falls possible over the eastern Gascoyne and the adjacent Goldfields and Interior districts. Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, remaining Gascoyne, northern Goldfields and the remaining Interior.
Forecast for Tuesday 11 February
Areas of rain and the chance of thunderstorms with moderate falls possible over the southeastern Gascoyne, eastern parts of the Southwest Land Division and the adjacent Goldfields. Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, eastern Pilbara, Interior and far west Eucla. Slight chance of showers and thunderstorms over western parts of the Southwest Land Division.
