Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
Severe Tropical Cyclone Claudia lies well offshore from the North West Cape and is moving west to southwest. A broad trough lies inland of the Pilbara coast, with another trough deepening over eastern parts of the Interior on Wednesday and Thursday.

Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A ridge of high pressure is developing to the south of the State. A trough near the west coast will deepen further on Wednesday and Thursday, moving east into the central South West Land Division on Friday. Another trough will develop through the Interior on Wednesday and extend towards northern parts of the South West Land Division on Thursday. A weak cold front will skim the south coast on Friday, with a new ridge of high pressure developing to the south of the State in it’s wake on Saturday.

Forecast for the rest of Tuesday 14 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne, Interior, Goldfields, western Eucla, and eastern parts of the South West Land Division.

Forecast for Wednesday 15 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne, northern and western Interior, Goldfields, eastern Eucla and over eastern parts of the South West Land Division.

Forecast for Thursday 16 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, inland Gascoyne, northern and western Interior, Goldfields and over central and northeastern parts of the South West Land Division. Rain at times over the South Coastal and South East Coastal districts with possible thunderstorms later in the day.

Forecast for Friday 17 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, inland Gascoyne, far northern and western parts of the Interior, the Goldfields, western Eucla and eastern parts of the South West Land Division. Showers about the south coast and adjacent inland areas west of Bremer Bay.

Forecast for Saturday 18 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, eastern Gascoyne, Interior, the Goldfields, Eucla and eastern parts of the South East Coastal. Showers of the southeast South West Land Division.

The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:45 am WST Wednesday.
