Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A broad trough extends from the Pilbara coast to the southern Kimberley. A tropical low lies north of the Kimberley moving west and is likely to develop into a tropical cyclone early Sunday. This system is forecast to track west-southwest and remain well north of the Pilbara coast.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A high pressure system lies over the Bight with a surface trough near the west coast. The surface trough will move eastwards during Sunday to lie over the central and eastern South West Land Division on Monday as a new ridge of high pressure develops to the south of the State. The trough will gradually contract towards the west coast on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of Saturday 11 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, northern and eastern Gascoyne and north Interior. Areas of rain over the northern Goldfields and South Interior. Moderate to heavy falls possible over the north Kimberley coast.
Forecast for Sunday 12 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne, northern Goldfields, Interior and the adjacent Eucla. Showers developing about the south coast west of Bremer Bay during the afternoon and evening. Moderate to heavy falls possible over the far north Kimberley.
Forecast for Monday 13 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne, Interior, northern Goldfields, and the far northern parts of the South West Land Division. Showers about the south coast east of Bremer Bay, most likely during the morning.
Forecast for Tuesday 14 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne, Interior, Goldfields and over central and eastern parts of the South West Land Division.
Forecast for Wednesday 15 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne, northern and western Interior, Goldfields and over central and eastern parts of the South West Land Division.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:45 am WST Sunday.
