Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
Ex-Tropical Cyclone Blake is located over the western Interior, is slow moving and will continue to weaken during the remainder of Friday. The monsoon trough contracts to the northern Kimberley, with a broad trough extending through the Pilbara. On Saturday another tropical low moves offshore from the western Top End of the Northern Territory and north of the Kimberley and is forecast to develop into a tropical cyclone Saturday evening or Sunday. This system is forecast to track west-southwest and remain well north of the Pilbara coast.

Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
Ex-Tropical Cyclone Blake is located over the western Interior, is slow moving and will continue to weaken during the remainder of Friday. A ridge of high pressure is strengthening to the south of the State as a trough develops down the west coast. On Saturday a high pressure system will lie over the Bight and the surface trough will deepen near the west coast. The surface trough will move eastwards during Sunday to lie over the central South West Land Division on Monday as a new ridge of high pressure develops to the south of the State.

Forecast for the rest of Friday 10 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara and northern Interior. Areas of rain about the northeast Gascoyne, South Interior, northeast Goldfields and Eucla with the chance of thunderstorms about the South Interior. Possible damaging winds and moderate to heavy falls expected over the South Interior.

Forecast for Saturday 11 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, eastern Gascoyne and north Interior. Areas of rain over the northern Goldfields and South Interior. Moderate to heavy falls possible over the north Kimberley coast.

Forecast for Sunday 12 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne, northern Goldfields and far northern parts of the Southwest Land Division. Showers possible over the remaining Goldfields and Eucla. Moderate to heavy falls possible over the north Kimberley.

Forecast for Monday 13 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne, northern Interior, northern Goldfields, and the far northern parts of the South West Land Division.

Forecast for Tuesday 14 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne, Interior, Goldfields and over the central and eastern parts of the Southwest Land Division.

The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:45 am WST Saturday.
