Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A low pressure trough extends from the western Pilbara through to a developing tropical low off of the Kimberley coast. The low will continue to develop over waters to the north of the Kimberley and during Monday it is likely to develop into a tropical cyclone as it moves towards the west Kimberley or eastern Pilbara coast before making landfall on Tuesday or Wednesday. The system will continue to move inland towards the southeast on Thursday. A Tropical Cyclone Watch and Warning has been issued. Please refer to

Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A high lies in the Bight with a developing trough near the west coast The trough will move east into central and eastern parts of the South West Land Division on Monday becoming stationary on Tuesday and Wednesday before moving into the Goldfields on Thursday. A ridge of high pressure builds along the south coast in the wake of the trough on Thursday.

Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley and Pilbara. Rain, heavy falls and squally thunderstorms possible about the northwest Kimberley coast.
Forecast for Monday 6 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, eastern Pilbara, and the North Interior. Rain, heavy falls and squally thunderstorms possible about the northwest Kimberley and adjacent east Pilbara coast.
Forecast for Tuesday 7 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, northeast Gascoyne and the Interior. Rain, heavy falls squally thunderstorms possible about the west Kimberley coast and over and the eastern Pilbara.
Forecast for Wednesday 8 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, eastern Gascoyne, Interior, Eucla and Goldfields as well as northern and eastern parts of the South West Land Division. Rain and moderate to heavy falls possible over the Pilbara and northeast Gascoyne.
Forecast for Thursday 9 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, eastern Gascoyne, Interior, Eucla and Goldfields as well as northern and eastern parts of the South West Land Division. Rain and moderate to heavy falls possible over the northeast Gascoyne, Goldfields, west South Interior and Eucla.
