Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia 
A broad low pressure trough lies inland from the Pilbara coast. The trough will 
move temporarily offshore from the western Pilbara coast for a period over the 
next few mornings. A tropical low may develop over waters well to the north of 
the Pilbara coast over the weekend. 

Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia 
A deep trough lies extends from the northern Gascoyne to the Eucla and will 
continue moving east as a weak front brushes the western south coast Thursday 
night. By Friday, the trough will lie through the Interior and a new ridge 
develops near the south coast by the evening as the front weakens along the 
south coast. A trough will develop near the west coast by Sunday morning and 
remain near stationary on Monday. 

Forecast for the rest of Thursday 2 January 
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, eastern Pilbara, Interior, far 
northeast Gascoyne, far eastern Goldfields and the Eucla. Showers possible over 
southwestern parts of the South West Land Division with a chance of a late 
thunderstorm along the western south coast. 

Forecast for Friday 3 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, Interior, northeast 
Gascoyne, Eucla and the adjacent Goldfields. Areas of rain developing over the 
South Interior during the afternoon and evening. Showers possible over southern 
and far western parts of the South West Land Division with a risk of morning 
thunderstorms about the western south coast. 

Forecast for Saturday 4 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, central and eastern Pilbara, 
North Interior and the northeast Gascoyne. Areas of rain with the chance of a 
thunderstorm over the South Interior and the adjacent Eucla districts with 
moderate to heavy falls possible over the Interior. 

Forecast for Sunday 5 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, central and eastern Pilbara and 
the North Interior. Moderate to heavy falls possible about the northwest 
Kimberley coast. 

Forecast for Monday 6 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, central and eastern Pilbara and 
the North Interior. Moderate to heavy falls possible about the northwest 
Kimberley coast.
