Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
Severe Tropical Cyclone Veronica lies off the Pilbara coast north of Karratha. The system is expected to track in a south to southeasterly direction for the remainder of Saturday and during Sunday as it approaches the central and eastern Pilbara coast. A trough extends from the Pilbara into the Interior of the State.

Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A ridge of high pressure lies near the south coast with a weak front brushing the south coast for a period on Sunday. The ridge strengthens on Monday over southern parts of the State in the wake on the front with a high moving into the Bight on Tuesday. A trough will develop near the west coast by Wednesday morning before moving inland during the day.

Forecast for the rest of Saturday 23 March
Heavy rainfall, damaging winds and potential coastal inundation near the central and eastern Pilbara coast, depending on the movement and intensity of Severe Tropical Cyclone Veronica.
Showers and thunderstorms over the north and west Kimberley, remaining Pilbara, inland Gascoyne, southwestern Interior, Goldfields, and over the Eucla. Showers and drizzle over southern and southeastern parts of the South West Land Division.

Forecast for Sunday 24 March
Heavy rainfall, damaging winds and potential coastal inundation in the northern and eastern Pilbara, depending on the movement and intensity of Severe Tropical Cyclone Veronica.
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, remaining parts of the Pilbara, northern Gascoyne, northern Goldfield and Interior. Showers near the south coast.

Forecast for Monday 25 March
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, northern Gascoyne and northern and central parts of the Interior with rain slowly easing over the Pilbara. Showers near the south coast.
Possible damaging winds and heavy rainfall over the Pilbara, depending on movement of Tropical Cyclone Veronica.

Forecast for Tuesday 26 March
Heavy showers and thunderstorms possible about the northwest Pilbara coast easing throughout the day. Showers and thunderstorms through the Kimberley, north Interior, remaining Pilbara and the far northern Gascoyne. Possible light showers about the Eucla coast in the morning.

Forecast for Wednesday 27 March
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne, and the adjacent Goldfields, Central West and Central Wheat Belt districts.
