Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
Severe Tropical Cyclone Veronica lies off the Pilbara coast north of Karratha. The system is expected to track to the southwest before turning more southerly and approaching the west Pilbara coast during the weekend. A trough extends from the Pilbara into the Interior of the State.

Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A trough lies extends from the Gascoyne through to southeastern parts of the State and will gradually shift northwards as a ridge of high pressure develops over the south of the State. The ridge will lie near the south coast on Saturday and Sunday as a cold front moves over south coastal parts later Saturday and Sunday. The ridge strengthens on Monday over southern parts of the State in the wake on the front.

Forecast for the rest of Friday 22 March
Showers and thunderstorms over the north and west Kimberley, Pilbara, inland Gascoyne, southwestern Interior, Goldfields and over the Eucla. Showers and drizzle over the southern parts of the South West Land Division. Possible damaging winds and heavy rainfall near the central Pilbara coast, depending on movement of Severe Tropical Cyclone Veronica.

Forecast for Saturday 23 March
Heavy rainfall, damaging winds and potential coastal inundation near the central and eastern Pilbara coast, depending on movement of Severe Tropical Cyclone Veronica.
Showers and thunderstorms over the north and west Kimberley, remaining Pilbara, inland Gascoyne, southwestern Interior, Goldfields, far eastern parts of the South West Land Division and over the Eucla.
Showers and drizzle over the southern and southeastern parts of the South West Land Division.

Forecast for Sunday 24 March
Heavy rain over the northeast Pilbara and damaging winds, due to Severe Tropical Cyclone Veronica.
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, remaining parts of the Pilbara, northern Gascoyne, northern Goldfield and Interior. Showers near the south coast.

Forecast for Monday 25 March
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, northern Gascoyne, northern Goldfield and Interior. Rain over the Pilbara. Showers near the south coast.
Possible damaging winds and heavy rainfall over the Pilbara, depending on movement of Tropical Cyclone Veronica.

Forecast for Tuesday 26 March
Heavy showers and thunderstorms about the central and west Pilbara coast beginning to ease throughout the day. Showers and thunderstorms through the Kimberley, north Interior and inland Pilbara.
Possible light showers about the Eucla coast in the morning.
