Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A surface trough lies through the Pilbara, and extends towards southeastern parts of the State. Tropical Cyclone Riley lies over waters north of the Pilbara coast. It is expected to track to the west southwest over the next few days over waters north of and parallel to the Pilbara coast. Although unlikely to cross the Kimberley coast, this system may produce squalls over the west Kimberley, with heavy falls possible. Refer to the latest Tropical Cyclone Advice for further details.

Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A deep surface trough extends from the Interior to the far eastern Eucla and continues to contract east with a ridge of high pressure extending along the south coast in the wake of the trough. A new trough develops near the west coast on Sunday and deepens further on Monday as a weak high moves into the Bight.

Forecast for the rest of Thursday 24 January
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, tending to rain and thunderstorms in the north, with heavy falls possible near the northwest coast. Showers and thunderstorms through the central and eastern Pilbara, Interior and the eastern Eucla. Showers along the south coast.

Forecast for Friday 25 January
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley and northern Pilbara, tending to rain and thunderstorms in the northwest Kimberley, with heavy falls possible. Showers and thunderstorms through the remaining Pilbara, Interior, northern Gascoyne, northern Goldfields and the eastern Eucla. Showers about south coastal parts of the South West Land Division, mostly in the morning.

Forecast for Saturday 26 January
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley and Pilbara, tending to rain and thunderstorms in the northwest Kimberley and the coastal Pilbara, with heavy falls possible. Showers and thunderstorms through the Interior, Gascoyne, northern Goldfields and the adjacent Central West district.

Forecast for Sunday 27 January
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Pilbara and northwest Gascoyne, tending to rain and thunderstorms in the far northwest Pilbara. Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Interior, remaining Gascoyne, northern Goldfields and northern parts of the Central West district.

Forecast for Monday 28 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, Interior, Gascoyne, western Goldfields and northern parts of the South West Land Division.
