Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A surface trough lies through the Pilbara, and extends towards southeastern parts of the State. A tropical low has developed over waters off the north Kimberley coast by Wednesday and track southwest for the next few days, with the potential to develop into a tropical cyclone by Thursday evening. Although unlikely to cross the Kimberley coast, this system may produce coastal gales and squalls over the northwest Kimberley, with heavy falls possible. Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A deep surface trough lies through the eastern Gascoyne, through the Goldfields and into the Eucla. The surface trough will contract slowly eastwards on Wednesday. A low pressure system is expected to develop near the southwest corner of the State early on Wednesday before deepening and moving to the east on Wednesday. This low will bring unseasonally cool, wet and windy conditions to the southwest of WA during Wednesday. A new ridge will develop over southern parts on Thursday and Friday.

Forecast for the rest of Tuesday 22 January
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, inland Pilbara, Interior, eastern Gascoyne, Goldfields and central and eastern parts of the South West Land Division. Showers increasing over western parts of the Southwest coastal district during the evening, with gusty winds. Showers also possible over remaining coastal parts of the South West Land Division.

Forecast for Wednesday 23 January
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, tending to rain and thunderstorms in the north, with heavy falls possible near the northwest coast. Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the central and eastern Pilbara, Interior, Goldfields, Eucla and eastern parts of the South West Land Division. Showers over remaining areas southwest of Kalbarri to Hopetoun, with unseasonally cool, wet and windy conditions in the southwest. Damaging winds possible in the Southwest and South Coastal districts and adjacent parts of the Great Southern. Heavy falls possible near the SW Capes. Very hot through the southeast of the State.

Forecast for Thursday 24 January
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, tending to rain and thunderstorms in the north, with heavy falls possible near the northwest coast. Showers and thunderstorms through the central and eastern Pilbara, Interior, eastern Goldfields and the Eucla. Showers through western and southern parts of the South West Land Division, contracting to the south coast during the day.

Forecast for Friday 25 January
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, tending to rain and thunderstorms in the north, with heavy falls possible near the northwest coast. Showers and thunderstorms through the Pilbara, Interior, northeast Gascoyne, northern Goldfields and eastern Eucla. Showers about southern and coastal parts of the South West Land Division, mostly in the morning.

Forecast for Saturday 26 January
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, tending to rain and thunderstorms in the north, with heavy falls possible near the northwest and west coasts. Showers and thunderstorms through the Pilbara, Interior, Gascoyne, Goldfields and Eucla.
