Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A surface trough of low pressure lies over the inland Pilbara and down across the South Interior is slowly moving eastwards and weaken. A new trough will deepen down the west coast on Saturday and move east on Sunday. On Monday and Tuesday a weak tropical low may move westwards through the Timor Sea, passing north of the far northern Kimberley.

Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A trough of low pressure lies over eastern parts and is contracting eastwards as a high pressure ridge develops to the south of the State. A trough will develop down the west coast by Saturday morning, deepening as it moves eastwards over the weekend. A very weak cold front barely makes it to the southwest corner on Sunday before another ridge develops south of the State.

Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, eastern Pilbara and the Interior.

Forecast for Saturday 12 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, eastern Pilbara, northeast and southeast Gascoyne, northern Goldfields, central parts of the South West Land Division and Interior. Very hot in northern and western inland parts.

Forecast for Sunday 13 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the eastern half of the state. Slight chance of shower near the western south coast. Very hot over northern and eastern parts of the State, cooler near the west coast.

Forecast for Monday 14 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, inland Pilbara, eastern Gascoyne, northern Goldfields, Interior and eastern Eucla. Slight chance of a shower near the central south coast. Very hot over northern, central and southeastern parts.

Forecast for Tuesday 15 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, inland Pilbara, eastern Gascoyne, northern and eastern Goldfields, Interior and Eucla. Slight chance of a shower near the central south coast. Very hot over northern and central parts.

The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:45 am WST Saturday.
