Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A surface trough of low pressure lies over the inland Pilbara and down across the South Interior, which should move east and weaken during Friday. The trough then deepens down the west coast on Saturday and then moves east on Sunday. On Monday and Tuesday a weak tropical low may move westwards through the Timor Sea, passing north of the far northern Kimberley.

Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A trough of low pressure lies over eastern parts and across the south coast near Israelite Bay, which is expected to move eastwards tonight and tomorrow. A weak cold front is expected to move over the southwest corner this evening ahead of a new high pressure ridge which is expected to quickly build along the south coast on Friday. The west coast trough redevelops Friday then deepens and moves east from Saturday. A very weak cold front barely makes it to the southwest corner before another ridge develops south of the state.

Forecast for the rest of Thursday 10 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, eastern Pilbara and northern Interior. Some evening showers over coastal areas between Bunbury and Bremer Bay.

Forecast for Friday 11 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, eastern Pilbara and the Interior. Some morning showers or drizzle near the lower west coast and western south coast. Very hot in the Pilbara, Kimberley and Interior.

Forecast for Saturday 12 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, eastern Pilbara, far northeast Gascoyne, northern Goldfields and Interior. Very hot in northern and western inland parts.

Forecast for Sunday 13 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the eastern half. Slight chance of shower near the western south coast. Very hot over northern and eastern parts of the State, cooler near the west coast.

Forecast for Monday 14 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the eastern half and extending into the inland Pilbara and northeast Gascoyne. Slight chance of a shower near the central south coast. Very hot over northern, central and southeastern parts.

The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:45 am WST Friday.
